The Highway Superintendent is an elected official; term is two years. He is responsible for Highway Department employees, maintenance and purchase of equipment, supplies, scheduling town road maintenance and improvements, snow and ice removal, and roadway signs, for all Town roads.
There are over 147 miles of town owned roadway in Bethel. The Highway Superintendent also formulates the budget for this Department. Applies for CHIPS (Capital Highway Improvement Program) Program funding from New York State. As necessary applies for FEMA and SEMO funding after road emergencies.
