The Animal Control Officer (ACO) is in charge of of all dog matters such as complaints, dog attacks or bites and lost and found. The ACO is an on-call position. The Town does not regulate cats.
All complaints must be in writing. Complaint form is listed on the Forms Page. Can be dropped off at Town Hall, faxed or e-mailed.
All dogs are required by law to be vaccinated against rabies and licensed. The Town Clerk’s office issues dog licenses upon satisfactory verification the dog has been vaccinated. Licenses are valid one year or three years.
The Town of Bethel has a contract with TARA (Animal Rights Alliance) to subsidize the spaying/neutering of cats. Certificates are $30 each and are valid for 60 days. Certificates can be purchased at the Town Clerk's Office.
